It’s our pleasure that Dr. Nasser Ayoub (CO-Founder and CEO of EPD Egypt) participated at COP28 to highlight the importance of developing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in the region. Dr. Nasser participated in different sessions and activities and here is a briefing for what happened this week:
1. EPD Egypt (The subsidiary of IVL) led an exhibit discussing EPDs.
EPD International, EPD MENA, and EPD Egypt led an exhibit from December 4th to 6th, partnering with Development Alternatives (DA) in 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗲 – 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝟰𝟭. Sebastiaan Stiller (CEO of EPD International AB), Sara Norman (Head of Growth of EPD International AB), and Nasser Ayoub, (Co-Founder and CEO of EPD Egypt and Managing Director of EPD MENA) participated in the exhibit and declared that there is an increase in EPD demand in the region, specifically in the construction products, but also in electronics, infrastructure, and furniture.
2. Dr. Nasser Ayoub participated in the “COP-talk” series with KFH talking about the role of EPDs in financing the clean energy transition in the MENA region.
This discussion happened on the 5th of December at KFH Pavilion and highlighted the challenges and opportunities in the MENA region’s clean energy transition and the exponential growth in renewable energy. The session focused on the importance of finance in supporting the energy transition, discussing pathways, policies, collaboration opportunities, investment de-risking strategies, and how EPD can support and be a part of this transition.
